In the Gun Hill farmyard, the extension and restoration of a barn celebrates its utilitarian structure, with open spaces designed for entertaining and modern family life. Conceived as both a refuge from and an embrace of the elements, connections to the outside are celebrated with large picture windows that frame vistas across the floodplains. Throughout the project, the patina of the original building was preserved, while the hardwearing and functional new additions are sympathetic to the site’s heritage as a working farm.
